Don't agree at all, there are two dragonflies I've seen around the pond outside most days for the last week and they're definitely the same ones, one is big and green, one is shorter and orange.

I think someone's confused this with May Flies which are much smaller but also found around ponds and lakes and do only live a day.

Incorrect, Dragonflies given the right weather conditions live for 2-3 years as a nymph, and up to an extra 6 months as an actual adult dragonfly, in places like western Canada you'll see them live as short as 6 months, but never as short as 24hours, holy mis-information highway.
