This fact isnt true, the Mona Lisa doesnt have eyebrows because Da vinci died before he was able to complete the work, thats why she doesnt have eyebrows because he hadnt finished the painting. some people even say that its his face and not a woman face and when you place paintings and drawings of da vinci's face next to that of the mona lisa you can say there alike a lot

News this week has shown under scanning that the painting DID have eyebrows. The only reason they aren't there any more is because of the copius amounts of restoration work done over the years.

It did have eyebrows. They have faded and probably been cleaned. Some have looked at the work using digital images and seen the eyebrows and eyelashes were once there as well as the arms being placed in different positions and other adjustments. But she did have eyebrows and eyelashes.

It had nothing to do with shaving them off. The eyebrows were painted on over dry paint after Da Vinci died, and when a restorer in the early 1900s went to clean and do general upkeep on it, a solution he used took the eyebrows off, due to them being painted on top of already dried paint.

Actually, all the comments about her eyebrows not being there because it was the trend then, restoring etc., and the work not being completed are all just theories. The mono lisa is an oil glaze paining and Leonardo did finish it. The technique then for oil paining was to layer the oil over and over and over. One of the last things to be painted on were fine details like eye brows, the vail she is wearing, hair curls, and eye lashes etc. Surprise surprise, all those things are missing and only faint traces are left. This is due to years of poor storage of the painting. Explanation: The top layers of the painting were RUBBED off after many many years. Sorry everyone. You were wrong.
