This sounds like a load of crap. Surely if this was true, companies wouldn't mine for gold they would just collect water and filter it out.

They are probably talking about lost treasures... and it doesn't specify how deep you must dig.

Do you have any idea how long it would take to filter a cubic mile of sea water? I personally, will stick to mining.

with new orleans style pump you could pump 1 cubic mile in a year, but there's a lot more to getting the gold out of the sea water than just pumping it

person above... are you serious? one cubic mile per year? your a dumb@ss... large pumps could take on much more than a single cubic mile.

The miner doesn't realize that the crust scalps gold off the mantle. Geothermal activity at spreading centers put it into the seawater. The subduction zones bury thousands of cubic kilometers of oceanic crust ___________ (every thousand years?). Their permeability equates to a volume of seawater containing that gold and every other compound found in sea water. Once its buried deep enough, the water says bye, bye and heads for the surface creating a hydrothermal fluid source for many of your gold deposits. The crust of the earth makes its own filter. You just have to be a good enough geologist to find them. It's more fun than a video game. You kids need to start learning more about your planet.

If you mine a cubic mile of seawater, you will mine 600 troy ounces or $1 million!
