Well the urine would make it acidic, and its sterile so despite the taste, the romans had the right idea.

the urine has a bleaching effect for the teeth.

Because of the Ammonia contained in our urine.
Plus other acidic chemicals that unharm our calcium teeth layer yet sterilyze and kill most of the bacteria causing bad breath and yellow teeth.
Actually, added to this, could be the fact that the Whiter a Roman's teeth was, the more urine they drinked (only morning urine due to the ammonium concentration)
