I really doubt if this is true. I do know that he wrote backwards cursive (which is really easy, once you get the hang of it) to keep people from reading them.

Yes Derrick is right, he wrote his plans backwards and read them with a mirror so people wouldn't steal his ideas.

Actually, he was just left handed, so he wrote that way to avoid smearing the ink.

yeah, first two comments are false. he wrote backwards to prevent his palm from smearing the ink because he was left handed. back then they wrote with feathers and ink that didnt dry right away like pens do now.

i have read a lot about him and there are no actual conclusions seeing as he was alive hundreds of years ago but it could have been from any of the reasons. and to the comment before me, they didnt learn that it was backwards until the last century. they had no idea how to read it
