this is not true. modern compond bows that are far superior to any longbow is only accurate to about 100 to 130 yards, and that is with a very good shooter

In France I saw a guy hit a target from a 270 yard distance with those modern, stringy, flashy bows so I guess that today's bows are better. Come to that - a gun will hit pretty well at that distance too.

This could not be more WRONG! The common war long-bow could loose an arrow much further and usually did. In fact, Henry VIII required that practice ranges could not be LESS than 220 yards!

While the further the target is, the less accurate the archer will be, 220 yards or more with respectable accuracy was an easy shot for the common medieval archer.
