Idk. The hair follicle is naturally thinner at the very top. When you shave, you cut it down to the base (the thicker part of the hair). Then when the thicker part grows out enough to feel in see it it appears to be thicker and darker.

I completely agree! i try to tell people this but.. people tend to forget the fact that your hair gets darker and thicker during puberty and this is also the time when most people start shaving.. it would have gotten thicker and darker naturally without help of the razor!

This is true. Shaving does not affect the follicle. Ask any hair stylist you know and they should know this fact. All hair grows with a pointed tip at the end... but by shaving it off you create a blunt end that causes your hair to feel thicker. and because of this blunt end it does not reflect light therefore making it look darker. So contrary to popular belief this is true.

This is true, when you cut it the hair becomes blunt. After a while it thins out when growing it, the stuble that you get from cutting it makes it seem darker because of being blunt and thicker because it has not yet sharpened it's edge from growing and slowly sharpening (sorry, I don't know the correct term for it so I'm just saying 'sharpening')

This is true. Hair is only alive at the folice, it does not respond to being cut. The "new" hair that grows back just has a blunt end, appearing thicker. Also dont be fooled by Shampoo adverts claiming that their added vitamins make your hair healthier... ITS DEAD!
