Exellent actually comes from Excellente, assasination comes from Assassinat, both of which are French in origin. They are therefore, about as English as 'Democracy' and 'Republic' both being Démocratie and République in French.

And excellente and republique comes from Latin, democracy from ancient Greek, both belonging to Indo-European. Assasin comes from hashshashin, an Arabic word associated with the word hashish or hash.
