That is extremely wrong. There are around 6,000 spoken languages, perhaps as many as 7,000. But even if you include "dialects" there are around 20,000. This number is just made up.

I concur with latest Anonymous. I read number of languages excluding dialects was around 6600, a few of which are only spoken by a handful of people today.
