I`m a South Indian and I`m 25 years old. Its not a common practice here. But i`ve heard that in one of the south Indian states Tamil Nadu, it used to happen about a 100 years back.

marrying one's maternal uncle's daughter is common practice in india among hindus. In muslims, one can marry one's paternal uncle's daughter.

in islam we do not marry our uncles, aunties, nephews, nieces, father or mother...so maybe the person who said all the rubbish muslim countries do that should get their facts right

im from south india and we do practise here these stuffs.. Wats there to get weird?? We live with our partner (uncle's daughter) with whom we are married and live only with them life long.. that was not the case anywher else.. india rocks..

Whether this is true or not, way back in the day people would mate with family only to keep blood pure. We find it gross only because we have grown up seeing it as a taboo but not because it is actually "wrong".
