If a glass ball, while forming, were to be dropped into a pot of cool water, it's outside would harden, then it's inside causing outward pressure. This causes the glass ball to be very hard to break, unless pressure is extremely high. You could hit it with an ice pick and shatter it, but dropping it wouldn't do anything to it. Also, all of it's energy from dropping would be cast right back into it moving up where as in a rubber ball, much of the force is lost with the ball bending.

it depends on what surface though try them on would and the glass ball will not bounce higher that the rubber ball try it on a tile however it will bounce higher than the rubber ball. ( also depends on the rubber ball u use aswell)

playing with marbles/tiny glass balls as a child, we often tried this fact, an the marble would NOT break. Throw it as hard as you can on stone ground, and i WILL jump really high. Whether it jumps higher than a rubber ball? I don't know...

For all of you skeptics, think about a marble and a plain rubber ball the same size...not those super bouncy silicon ones, just like plain rubber, like the ball from a paddle ball...the marble will bounce higher.

Thats rubbish, it depends on how much energy is used and lost when bouncing back and how much will be stored to bounce back, thanks to the spring effect. Glass will break, if you drop it from a height to big, that i can't store its energy anymore, to spring back. To much is stored and the rest of the energy will be lost, by braking down. Same reason why ceramic plates work to protect from gun shots.

marbles are made of glass and they do seem to bounce higher.
