The same side of the moon always faces the Earth since we are in a synchronous rotation. Since the "dark" side of the moon only faces us during a "new" moon only 41% is ever visible.

This is actually true. We only see one side of the moon at all times. That's because the Moons rotation on it's axis and revolution around Earth are both 23.7 Days long.

This is kind of badly phrased. You can only see half of the Moon at a time, but it "wobbles" slightly, so the actual part of the moon you can see changes slightly over time. This results in the the Moos showing a total of 59% of it's surface to the Earth over time.
