No... It's the other way around. Brazil has this names because the of tree ''pau brasil'' (Yes, with an S in portuguese- Brazil's official language)... Brasil is not a word, but originates from brasa, meaning flame- as the tree ''pau brasil'' was as red as flame. (I'm Brazilian)
