This is actually false. Nails appear to grow because the skin under the nail recedes, and as for the hair, the skin is receding around the follicles.

This is true. Because after you die,.your body still had protein in its body and that produces hair and nails, even if your are dead. Because protein is all hair and nails is.

according to a study of this phenomenon it was a widely believed tale. Apparently the skin shrinks around the nails giving the appearance of nail growth.
