I was double checking this fact before using it in my middle school calss and found the following info. at Answers.com wikianswers -- "Sorry- urban legend. The FIRST bombing of Berlin took place on 25 Aug 1940, using 81 aircraft. The bombing that damaged the zoo (and, unfortunately, the elephant) was a later bombing raid, night of 22 Nov, 1943, performed by 444 aircraft. This raid produced massive damage and multiple deaths." They also have an attached link.
